Fixing Canon Remaining Ink Level Issue

One of the most common issues we all face with Canon Printers is unable to see the remaining ink level on machine status monitor. Most people don’t understand how to resolve this issue or what to do with the device. Though, the experts advise to utilize the device driver with bidirectional communication. In the properties dialog box, from the Ports sheet of machine driver select Enable bidirectional support.

How to access the Printer Driver Setup Window
Either from the printer icon or application software you can see the printer driver setup window.

THROUGH APPLICATION SOFTWARE


Follow the below mentioned steps to configure the printer device while printing:
  • On the Application Software choose the command that you use for printing. On File menu select Print for opening the Print dialog box.
  • Click Preferences or Properties for selecting your device’s model name. Window of printer driver setup will be displayed.
Note: Command names or menu names might differ depending upon the application software you use and there can be more steps.

For device maintenance operations follow the process mentioned below like configure a printing profile or print head cleaning which is general for all application software:

a. Now, choose as explained below-
  • Window 8 - from Desktop charms choose Settings< Control Panel< Hardware and Sound< Devices and Printers.
  • Window 7 - go to Start menu< Devices and Printers.
  • Window Vista - go to Start menu< Control Panel< Hardware and Sound< Printers.
  • Windows XP - From Start menu< Control Panel< Printers and Other Hardware< Printers and

b. Choose the printing preferences from the appeared menu after right-click on your model name icon. You will see the machine driver setup window.

Note: Either through Printer Properties (Windows 7 or 8) or Properties (Windows Vista or XP) access the printer driver setup window. It will show you the tabs regarding the functions as Advanced or Ports tab. You cannot see these tabs through Printing preferences or application software.
